Dive into the world of felting and learn to make your very own Perfectly Imperfect Pumpkin!  This project incorporates both wet felting and needle felting.  Rachel will guide you through the process of wet felting over a resist for the body of the pumpkin, and then she will show you how to finish your pumpkin by making a stem out of wire armature and needle felting.

All materials and tools will be provided for this workshop.  A variety of oranges, greens, and whites in merino wool will be available to choose from, as well as luxurious bamboo fibers and silk to add luster and shine to your pumpkin, and bumpy woolen nepps to add texture.  Your finished pumpkin will measure approximately 5 to 6 inches in diameter.

At the end of class you will also be given a handout including instructions and a supply list so you can continue to practice this art at home.   Rachel will also have needle felting kits available for purchase if you are interested in practicing needle felting on your own.

Please wear comfortable clothing that may get damp while wet felting.  Wet felting is also a fairly physically strenuous activity, so if you have any shoulder, arm, or back problems this may not be the class for you.

Coffee, tea and light snacks will be provided. You are welcome to bring a lunch if desired.

This workshop is taught by guest teacher, Rachel Carter. Rachel has always been passionate about two things: nature and art.  A life-long artist, Rachel stumbled upon needle felting about seven years ago, and instantly fell in love with the medium.  Her art often reflects upon things found in nature, combining her two passions into one.  She began her felting business Rock and Flower Felt in August of 2016.  She delights in sharing her love of felting with others, and loves to teach various workshops to help others hone their craft.  Rachel currently lives in Milwaukie, OR, with her husband, two daughters, a dog, three cats, and chickens.  You can find her work at www.rockandflower.com.
